The Impact that "Black Lives Matter" has on our Political Mind

Having violence in our own communities by the police is sad I agree with you on everything. Sometimes we all seek justice in some sort of way but at the end the police and political parties care more about other issues than having justice for everyone, having black lives matter represents not only black but also anyone who has been thru police brutality. Many of these conflicts have been because there have been some deaths of young men who had been killed by the police. Having some cases like Trayvon Martin, David Joseph and many more unsolved cases, in Austin we came across the statue of Albert Sidney Johnston it was spray paint in red “Black Lives Matter.” No because we are certain color, they have the right to abuse their power. Having this problem in our society can be a racial analysis of American inequality; therefor most innocent people suffer with police brutality. For Example back in the day we had the “Black Panther Party” many people wanted to portray the philosophies of the Black Panther as violent while down playing African American victimization. As if you said on your article not only black matters everyone’s lives matter, we have Hispanic people who are stop by the police because they look immigrants and check their papers because if they were not legal; to deport them back.
Where is the respect and our rights as humans, being a minority of Mexican decent in my experience my family has suffer from discrimination by the police, we live in a neighborhood where there’s diversity and our next door neighbor she is a white lady around her 60’s, we can’t have parties. Because she will call the police on us and interrogate us like we are the ones to blame, we understand we can be loud after 9 pm nobody likes to be bother at the time but for her will be enough reasons to call the police, and when she is the one making the noise we can’t complain.
The biggest incident we had was that my dad was working on the house she came out and screamed on the top of her lungs that she will call immigration to deport us we call the police this time because we could not make her be quite and we really did not want to respond to her in a bad attitude. One the police came they decided to interrogate us and tell us to not respond and to leave her alone while for her they didn’t tell her anything we call the police just once and we are the ones to blame. With this society is not about how we treat people, is about judging them for their color and assuming things they should not.
The people who will always be above us will be the ones who are not a minority, which is unfair to be treated differently. By having, the political parties focused on topics like this one they will never pay attention because it is not for their interest only a few like trump with his absurd idea of making the great wall we encounter that if he is racist to one race, he will be racist to every race Trump encourages violence for everyone. Voting for him everything would be a complete disaster because not people are thinking negative but as a nation, we will move backwards instead of progressing forward.  “Black Lives Matter” into a hashtag and rallying cry that defines the nation’s racial politics.

Why detention centers?

Many immigrants call “United States" the land of opportunities and freedom, is it really the land of freedom? I know immigration has been a struggle and issue for the United States for the longest period of time. However, it is unfair to have Detention Centers in America, many of these Detention centers hold innocent families whose only dream is to come to America to pursue the American Dream. Having innocent people in a prison eerily reminds me of the holocaust, by keeping them captive and away from society they are being subjected to harsh living conditions and their kids who are born on American soil are being treated like they are illegal aliens instead of citizen who deserve the right as any American does. The real purposes of the detention centers are as asylum for the refugees who have escaped the horror of their own nation. Refuges have to stay at the detention centers for some period of time until they have a court hearing.
These refuges have to procced through a “merits hearing” before an immigration judge, if the authorities believe that if the applicant failed to appear for that court date, they require to make bond payment for guarantee, or place the refuge on a tracking bracelet. If a judge denies the bond, he/she can keep the refuge in a detention camp until the merits hearing. The horror these refuges face in these detention camps should be subject to investigation, innocent people are oftentreated like animals, it is unfair. Children under the age of six are raised to a diet of tortillas, rice and chicken bits, and the cafeterias in all the detention camps are worse than the penal jails. Having kids go through this iskind of experience will scar them for life. Horrifying notonly because it is a detention camp but also they could be without medicines or a doctor or food. People are suffering and some of them might be dying or have a contagious disease and just like a lot of prisons, most the detention centers are owned by private corporations. They could care less for how the people suffer no matter how many of them are sick, hungry the only thing they care about it is the funds they get from the government.
Just because they are immigrants they shouldn’t be treated that way, so is the “United States” really the land of the free. Not in my eyes, we cannot blame every immigrant by the actions of the few or their whole nationality everyone has done something nor because of our race be it white, black, or Hispanic. Everyone has done something illegal, but that doesn’t mean we have the right to judge their whole race. We do not know what the people go through only god knows. Having cruelty in detention camps is the most inhumane thing, I do understand that some of them came illegally but there’s no reason to treat them like if they are not humans who have feelings and seeing their kids go through somethinglike this, it’s not what the American Dream stands for.

Abortion rights?

Think progress the article had a serious article of how  “The Supreme Court Shamed the Most Anti-Abortion Court in The Country with Just 14 Words” it explains how the Supreme Court overruled the conservative federal court, by making them to reopen the Louisiana’s abortion clinic. Ian Millhiser as a democrat with liberal point of views wrote  an article  explaining that the Supreme Court took action of this incident and demonstrated that every woman should have the right to make her own decisions. As for the side of the republicans the anti-abortion and their conservative ways would not get them nowhere most women wouldn’t vote for them. But then you have the pro-choice women who are against abortion which, I would agree more with the article and believe that it's OK to be pro-choice sometimes but not all the time because getting pregnant every single time and go to have an abortion wouldn’t be right which it might leave woman in a bad position but then there’s the reality of a cruel world out there and if a woman gets raped she has the right to make her decision to keep the baby or have an abortion. As for the clinics I believe they should be open and the government should have the right measures to help woman in need. Having the government against the abortion clinic could effect on how doctors perform the wrong procedure and could even kill the patient. I know there is no justification on having an abortion but if we look in the stories of ladies who have been drugged and raped, we can see their pain would kill them by having a baby from someone who abused and violated her right to say “no” before she was raped. We can look to someone else and judge them for their actions but we don’t know how depressed they feel from the inside. Recently I heard about shutting planned parenthood that might cause more abortions than anything because taking the right of having birth control would bring women's rights down.We are in an era where people are mentally evolving  and to think in a conservative matter  the nation would facing an ignorant state of mind. This article was for young and older women who will fight for their rights and no matter what we will never give up.

"End an Unfair Restriction on College Aid"

I came across this intriguing article by the editorial board of the New York Times called, “End an Unfair Restriction on College Aid”. The student aid restriction grew out of the drug war hysteria in the late 1990s.  Students are denied the right for financial aid because of minor drug offenses.  The Editorial states, "The restriction is unnecessarily punitive." Their viewpoint argues that it is not right to penalize people for such a minor crime. Those who have been convicted already served their crime and dealt with the consequences. Why should they be punished again and withheld from the right to education? I strongly agree with this editorial. The government should not be so biased and judge those with a small criminal offense as being someone who will be unproductive to society. This is holding them back and denying their dreams of having a career. Some areas where the population is wealthy could possibly have more access to drugs than those with economic hardships. Yet, they are able to afford college with the minor infractions on their records. Alcohol is legal everywhere today thanks to the prohibition. Alcohol to some is addictive and can become like a drug when overused. Yet, we don't have restriction of aid to those who indulge in it. Colorado has legalized recreational marijuana and recreational marijuana is legal.  We are in an era where change is happening to our nation in that we are more open minded about marijuana. This restriction only provides another obstacle for people to get a college education.
